What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?
DPC is a membership-based healthcare model that provides direct access to your primary care physician for a flat monthly fee. This means no insurance billing, no copays, and no surprise bills—just comprehensive, personalized care when you need it.
Why would I want DPC if I already have insurance?
Even with great insurance, you may still experience long wait times, rushed appointments, and difficulty accessing your doctor when you need them. DPC eliminates these frustrations by offering:
- Same-day or next-day appointments
- Longer, unrushed visits (30 or 60 minute visits)
- Direct communication with your doctor via call, text, or video
- Lower costs on labs, imaging, and prescriptions
- Personalized, proactive care that focuses on your long-term health
Many of our members use DPC alongside their insurance to ensure they have top-tier access to primary care while using their insurance for emergencies and specialist visits.
Does SOAR Family Medicine take insurance?
No, we do not bill insurance. By cutting out the middleman, we can provide more affordable, transparent, and patient-centered care. You can still use your insurance for things like specialist visits, hospitalizations, and prescriptions if needed.
How does DPC work with Medicare?
At Soar Family Medicine, we have opted out of Medicare, meaning we do not bill Medicare for any services. However, Medicare patients can still join our practice and enjoy all the benefits of DPC. You can continue using Medicare for specialist visits, hospital care, and other services outside of our office.
Can I use HSA/FSA funds for DPC?
HSA/FSA eligibility varies, and while some patients successfully use these funds, we recommend checking with your plan administrator. Legislative efforts are ongoing to make DPC fully HSA-eligible, and we stay updated on any changes.

What if I need to see a specialist or go to the hospital?
DPC covers all your primary care needs, but if you require a specialist or hospital visit, we will coordinate your care and help you navigate the system efficiently. You can use your insurance for those services just like you normally would.
Can I join if I have a chronic condition?
Absolutely! DPC is an excellent option for managing chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and thyroid disorders. We manage many autoimmune, hormonal, immunologic, cardiovascular, endocrine, and neurologic disorders in primary care. We provide regular check-ins, lifestyle coaching, and medication management to keep you in optimal health.
What If I need to cancel my membership?
Our memberships are month-to-month and no long-term contracts are required. We ask for a 30-day notice if you decide to cancel. For your safety, we are unable to provide prescriptions that extend beyond the 30 day notice period.
If you are moving, and transitioning care to another location, we are happy to help facilitate connection with another direct care practice.
